Selected Past Work Experience
09/09 – present, Copywriter and Social Media Strategist, Woodapple Interactive Pvt Ltd
While working remotely with Woodapple, who are based in Gurgaon, India, I assisted in the creation and management of the Overseas Indian Facilitation Centre a partnership between the Indian Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs and Confederation of Indian Industry aimed at facilitating investment into India. This site provides information resources, live help/consultation and a businesses network and receives over 1,000 visitors a week. I consulted with several clients devising and refining social media strategies including Outlook Money, India’s largest personal finance magazine, helping them refine and develop their presence on both Twitter and Facebook. I coached their staff and helped them increase their audience and social media interactions by over 250% creating a valuable communication and sales channel.
I managed the design, development, social marketing strategies and content production for a network of seven websites from start-up to over 65k visitors per month. The operational team was dispersed in several locations in the UK and India and the project was co-ordinated with a strong emphasis on online communication.
Co-ordinating the technical requirements of artists with the staff of the several venues used by this comedy infused poetry based cabaret. The Wondermentalist Cabaret has built a strong following in South Devon regularly playing to audiences of over 200.
10/06 – 09/07, Web Designer and Technology Consultant
Working from concept development through to site launch I created six successful websites for a variety of businesses from holiday home rentals to a businesses coach.
12/02 – 10/06, Switchboard Operator, Starwood Hotels and Resorts
Serving all three Central London Starwood hotels, two Five Star and one Four Star with a total of 671 guest rooms as well as Starwood’s UK offices. This was a busy customer-facing role.
10/00 – 11/02, Graphic/Web Designer, Danceworks
I created and maintained the company website and produced monthly timetables both on the web and in print.
01/00 – 01/01, Sound Editor (Film and TV)
I worked as a sound editor and music editor on film and television projects, reconciling artistic vision with technical and budgetary constraints. I was part of creating several films that received festival viewings and television broadcasts.
Education
01/98 — 01/00, National Film and Television School, Beaconsfield, UK Post-Graduate Diploma in Screen Music
While at film school I worked as a composer, sound designer, recording engineer and dubbing mixer on many films. Many of these were exhibited at festivals both in the UK and abroad with one, Hourglass, winning the Royal Television Society Award for Best Student Film in 2000.
09/86 — 05/89, Manhattan School of Music, New York, USABA Composition Program
As well as working as a teaching assistant in electronic music I studied composition, conducting and music history. Several of my compositions were performed at the conservatory both as part of composition showcases and dissertation recitals.
09/82 — 07/86, Friends Seminary High School, New York, USA
I worked extensively on music while earning my high school diploma, playing with the school jazz ensemble, wind band and several ad-hoc groups. I composed scores for several school theatre productions and in my final year composed and presented a 90-minute program of my work in the schools main auditorium.
