Past Work Experience

09/07 — 05/09, Project Manager, CopperBeech (UK) Ltd

Managed the design, development, social marketing strategies and content production for a network of seven websites from startup to over 65k visitors per month. The operational team was dispersed in several locations in the UK and India and the project was co-ordinated with a strong emphasis on online communication.

12/07 — Ongoing, Technical Director, Wondermentalist Cabaret

Co-ordinating the technical requirements of artists with the staff of the several venues used by this comedy infused poetry based cabaret. The Wondermentalist Cabaret has built a strong following in South Devon regularly playing to audiences of over 200.

10/06 — 09/07, Web Designer and Technology Consultant

Working from concept development through to site launch I created six websites for a variety of businesses from holiday home rentals to a businesses coach. In addition to the creation of the sites I worked with my clients to create a comprehensive online strategy to help them accomplish their business goals. I also consulted with companies on using social media for both internal and external communication, social marketing and customer research.

12/02 — 10/06, Switchboard Operator, Starwood Hotels and Resorts

Serving all three Central London Starwood hotels with a total of 671 guest rooms as well as Starwood’s UK offices in a fast paced customer facing environment the communications team were responsible for directing telephone, emergency co-ordination and first line system support.

10/00 — 11/02, Graphic/Web Designer, Danceworks

Created and maintained company websites, produced monthly timetables both on the web and in print. Responsible for the concepts and production of publicity material. Provided on-site first line technical support for 25 employees.

01/00 — 01/01, Sound Editor (Film and TV)

Working as a sound editor and music editor on film and television projects I managed the challenge of reconciling artistic vision with technical constraints. I was part of creating several films that received festival viewings and television broadcast.

09/95 — 01/98, Composer/Sound Designer (Theatre)

Collaborating as part of a creative team I realised sound designs and musical scores for theatre productions in the UK, USA and Ireland.

05/89 — 08/90, Assistant Sound Designer/Sound Operator (Theatre)

Working principally with sound designer and composer Daniel Schreier I assisted in the creation of sound effects for several Off-Broadway productions and the musical arrangements for a musical. I also operated the sound for the productions as part of the technical team.
01/87 — 05/89 Teaching Assistant in Electronic Music, Manhattan School of Music
This position gave me the opportunity to work extensively in the school’s two electronic music studios. I taught classes when the professor was unavailable, ran seminars and gave tutorials. I was also responsible for maintenance and managing stocks of consumables.

Education

01/98 — 01/00, National Film and Television School, Beaconsfield, UK

Post-Graduate Diploma in Screen Music

While at film school I worked as a composer, sound designer, recording engineer and dubbing mixer on many films. Many of these were exhibited at festivals both in the UK and abroad with one, Hourglass, winning the Royal Television Society Award for Best Student Film in 2000.

09/86 — 05/89, Manhattan School of Music, New York, USA

Composition Program

As well as working as a teaching assistant in electronic music I studied composition, conducting and music history. Several of my compositions were performed at the conservatory both as part of composition showcases and dissertation recitals.

09/82 — 07/86, Friends Seminary High School, New York, USA

I worked extensively on music while earning my high school diploma, playing with the school jazz ensemble, wind band and several ad-hoc groups. I composed scores for several school theatre productions and in my final year composed and presented a 90 minute program of my work in the schools main auditorium.
